Category: Carpentry General
Description:

Estimating Concrete for Footers
(To the nearest 1/4 yard)
1.        Change width and thickness from inches to feet
(Width = twice the thickness)
·        # inches ÷ 12 = inches in feet

2. Find the perimeter. (Must add once the thickness of the footer to the Length and Width of the house dimensions.)

3. # Yards = Perimeter x Thickness of Footer x Width of Footer
                                           27

Ex: Find the number of cubic yards of concrete needed for a building with dimensions of 44’ x 28’. The foundation walls will be 9” thick.
a. Change Inches to Feet:

b. L  of Footer = ___________________
    W of Footer = ___________________

c. Perimeter = _____________________

d. Volume =  ______________________

Ex: How many cubic yards of concrete will be needed for a house with dimensions of 22’ x 32’ if the foundation is 8” thick?
