Estimating Concrete for Footers
(To the nearest 1/4 yard)
1.        Change width and thickness from inches to feet
(Width = twice the thickness)
·        # inches ÷ 12 = inches in feet
 
2. Find the perimeter. (Must add once the thickness of the footer to the Length and Width of the house dimensions.)
 
3. # Yards = Perimeter x Thickness of Footer x Width of Footer
                                           27
 
Ex: Find the number of cubic yards of concrete needed for a building with dimensions of 44’ x 28’. The foundation walls will be 9” thick.
