BR: on a post-it note, write down what you think the PURPOSE of the research paper is, then post on front board
1 - Research
- go over purpose (to prove that the author had specific influences on his or her writing
that show up in the novel that you read)
- "How To" introduction PPT (see me)
- DO NOT: use the word "thing", use first or second person (I, me, you, your, we) unless
it is in a direct quote, use the full or first name of the author once you have used the full
name once (use only last name), use contractions.
2 - Transcendentalist Poetry
- Complimentary Whitman poems: "I, Too" - Langston Hughes and "To Walt Whitman" -
Angela de Hoyos
- annotate (write both on back of TPCASTT sheet, one each) - use "I Hear America
Singing" as a model
- TPCASTT analysis of "I, Too" - TURN IN
HW: ROUGH DRAFT!! Typed, in MLA format, with a clean Works Cited page attached.
