The title of this book is Heat the author is Mike Lupica. One minor character in the book is Manny. Manny is Michael’s best friend and catcher. This pitcher/catcher bond makes them a great team. Michael and Manny are constantly thinking of ways to find his birth certificate. Michael feels that he and Manny couldn’t be much closer as friends. He also thinks of Manny as non-stop talking machines as he says, “do you ever shut up?” Throughout the story Manny feels that Michael is a born baseball star. He said, “It kills me to say this but Michael is also the best catcher on the team but he is too good at centerfield and pitcher.” Manny and Michael are the best of friends and this experience can only make them closer.
