The novel The Long Winter by Laura Ingalls Wilder. In this novel a huge snow storm comes in the middle of october, letting the Ingalls  family know that the little house was not going to hold up for the hard winter ahead of them. The Ingalls family then rents a stronger house in town to live in during the winter. While the Ingalls family is living in town they have a great oppurtunity to send two of there daughters to school. Laura and Carrie are the two daughters that have to go to school. Laura and Carrie are very nervous to go to school. One day Laura and Carrie were at school when a huge blizzard hit the small town. The whole school had to leave the little shelter of the school house and find shelter because the little school house didn't have enough heat to heat the school till the blizzard blew over. As they were walking in a straight line Laura walked into a building. Turns out  the building was the hotel after that it lead everyone home safely.
