The novel The Long Winter by Laura Ingalls Wilder is about how the  Ingalls family faces alot of obsticles. During this book a gigantic sieres of snow storms hits the little town that the Ingalls famly lives in. During these snow storm food becomes scarce in the little town. The Ingalls family was forced to eat tiny chunks of brown bread. The town also didnt have any coal,  oil for the lamp, and no food just wheat because all the food in the stores had been sold out. The whole town started to starve, the trains with all the food were canceled till spring so the little town had to deal with what they had left. The ingalls familly ran out of coal and had to twist hay hours after hours only to have it burn in a few minutes bringing  only a little heat. The Ingalls family large sack a wheat had decreased alot sence the first blizzard.
