In the novel Facing The Lion Joseph and his brother Ngoliong watch their mothers favorite cow get attacked by a lion                                         

The lion brings back another lion and they both attack the cattle.

 So the tribe goes up to the lion with spears and make a circle around the lion, the lion paces. 

Eventually he runs off and the tribe waits for his return. 

 In the mean time the children play the men and boys work and the women and girls run the huts.
