I'm reading games by carol Gorman.  The boys continue to go to the game room, and every day they sneak into the room. On one day the boys wander all the to the end of the hall and find a door to a janitors office with a light switch. A few days later Mick sneaks into the room out of school hours to find boot is there crying. When he shines a light on his face Mick sees that boot is terribly injured and can't move his arm. Mick is told that boots father beat him up because boot stole $30 from his father.  Mick goes to get boot father to make things right. when he arrives at boots house boots father demands to see him. Mick directs him to boot where they talk and come to a verdict. The next day the boys are set free from the game room. The end.
