In The Hunger Games, previously Rue and Katniss are allys. Katniss went to the food source that the careers had, and blew it up, while Rue was lighting fire to keep the careers out so Katniss would not get caught. Rue had made three fires. They were suppose to go to their base camp where they would meet,but when Katniss went there Rue was not there. Katniss soon enough heard the signal they had agreed to make to show that they were still alive, the mocking jay whistle. After she heard the whistle she heard her name being screamed for, it was Rue,when Katniss got there - the boy from  district 1 had just stuck a spear in Rues back,so Katniss shot him. Soon Rue had died. The next night the capitol had announced that you could group with the other tribute from your district. The next morning Katniss went to find Peeta. When Katniss found Peeta she had said that they would work together to win The Hunger Games. Throughout Katniss and Peeta killing the other tributes they won The Hunger Games!
