5th GRADE HOMEWORK POLICY
Homework will be given in classes throughout the day. 2:04 to 2:45 PM will be our Study Hall time. Students will be expected to begin homework assignments at this time and to complete anything unfinished at home. Those taking Band or Chorus will do so with the understanding that this will mean work is to be completed at home.
Missing assignments will mean missing morning choice time. 3 plus missing assignments will result in a note sent home to be signed by a parent and returned. 3 letters in a marking period will equal a write-up with a request for after school detention. The student will be asked to write a letter explaining why he/she has so many missing assignments and to develop a plan to avoid this problem in the future. In the event that a student does not try and finish an assignment, he or she is given a zero for that grade.
It is not often that any student gets as far as a write-up. Hopefully with written and verbal reminders from me, support at home, and an organized planner each child will have little difficulty with this policy.
On the positive side, any student who has no missing or late assignments each month will receive a free homework pass.
