Activities to Practice Sight Word
* Have your child search for our weekly sight words while reading any books.
* Use the words in a sentence aloud or in writing.
* Play "I SPY" together while you are reading a magazine, a newspaper, a comic book, or any other book.
* Cut out sight words from magazines and make sentences. Glue them on paper.
* Write them in shaving cream, sand, rice, or on sand paper. The hands-on experience will allow your child to remember them easier. THIS IS GREAT FOR BOYS!
* Write the words on cards and turn the cards into a Memory or a Bingo game.
* Use your favorite snack to form the words.
* Label things at home. Use index cards to write the words and draw pictures to help remember.
* Make the words using clay or play-dough.
* Make the words with arms and legs (like a cheerleader) and cheer and chant the words.
* Ask your child how she or he would like to practice the words!
