This is the website for HMA:  Horseheads Music Advocates--right here in Horseheads!  This umbrella organization was created in the 2009-2010 school year for parents of all music students in Horseheads.  It is an umbrella over SPAH (string parents), Band Boosters, and Choir Boosters.  Consider coming to one of their meetings to see how you can help advocate for our music program.

MENC: The National Association for Music Education

"For today's students to succeed tomorrow, they need a comprehensive education that includes music taught by exemplary music educators."

MENC, among the world's largest arts education organizations, marked its centennial in 2007 as the only association that addresses all aspects of music education. Through membership of more than 75,000 active, retired, and preservice music teachers, and with 60,000 honor students and supporters, MENC serves millions of students nationwide through activities at all teaching levels, from preschool to graduate school.

The MENC website has information for parents, students and music teachers.

Here is the website for our regional orchestra, the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes.  You can order concert tickets, preview the season schedule, see what's available for young musicians, etc.  I'm a violinist in this orchestra.

www.wskg.org

This is the Public Radio/TV station based in Binghamton.  Listen to excellent classical music at 91.1 or its affiliates.  "From the Top," is a program at 8 PM Wednesdays--it features excellent young musicians from across the country.

www.metronomeonline.com

A metronome makes a sound (or a light) to keep a steady beat--at whatever tempo (speed) you choose.  This is an important tool for musicians!  (This site even features an A-440 button to play the pitch of an A string.)  Read the directions if you need help.
