Fourth grade is an exciting yet very busy year. We will be working very hard to improve our writing skills. Some of the specific topics we will address include:
- Writing about a beginning/middle/end
- Taking notes
- Writing a summary
- Compare/Contrast
- Thank you letters
- Write using our 5 senses
- Sequencing
We will also be addressing skills including:
- Listening
- Reading Skills
- Reading Comprehension
- Graphic Organizers
- Handwriting
- Poems
- Main Purpose
- Author’s Purpose
- How things change throughout a story and why
One of the most important things you can do at home to help your child is to read with them. You can listen to them read, you can read with them. You can read to them. Books should be a part of your night, every night. Try to set aside at least 20 minutes every night to read with your child.
