Welcome to the Building Trades Classroom Website at GST BOCES. This website has been developed to assist students, parents and other educational support staff.

Building Construction year two, begins with a review of what you learned over the course of the previous year. Students are required to know the following: how to operate safely various electrical power tools, how to layout walls, how to run various electrical routes, including a three way switch. which includes two switches that control one light. Often is found in rooms where there are two exits. How to install siding and shingles, and most importantly how to set up and install a roof system. Over the course of year two you will be guided on how to install various plumbing systems. As well as a chance to show off your abilities that you learned the previous year in year one by building a full scale home.

An article published by Mark W. Acera on topbuildingjobs.com states that the U.S. Bureau of Labor statistics shows that over the past year or two, employment growth in construction was higher than any other of the Bureaus Chief Subcategories.
