Important Parent Information
June 11th , 2014


Daily School Schedule:
·Breakfast is served from 7:50- 8:15 every day
·School starts at 8:10; students are tardy at 8:20 and have to go to the office for a late slip
·Students dismiss from school at 2:40 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
·Wednesday students dismiss at 1:15.
There is no supervision for students before 8 AM outside of the building. If they report to school before 8:00 we ask that they report to the cafeteria where there is supervision starting at 7:50.
  
 
Parley Coburn Office Hours are 7:30- 3:30. Please call the school if your child is going to be absent. We ask that all arrangements for pick up or drop off be done prior to school. After 2:30 it is not guaranteed that messages can be delivered to classrooms before dismissal due to the high volume of requests at the end of the day.
 
 
Upcoming Events-
June 18th – Southside clean up
June 19th – Field Day 9:30- 11:45 Grades 5 and 6
                                    12:15-2:30 Grades 3 and 4
                                    Students need to wear clothing they can get wet in and bring a towel.
June 20th- Summer Book Reading challenge and book distribution
June 23rd- Talent Show- starting at 8:45
 
End of Year Schedule-    Half days June 23, 24, 25 dismissal at 10:45 AM
                                     -       Last day June 26 dismiss at 9:00 AM

 
 
Marking Periods: This year there will be four marking periods. The end of the marking periods will be November 1st, January 30th, April 1st, and June 27th.


Box Tops for Education and Campbell’s Labels: Parley Coburn continues to collect Box Tops and Campbell’s Labels. Keep sending them in; they help the school fund supplies for classrooms.

ARCADE Program: If you have any questions about the ARCADE program call Mary Jane Belinky at 735-3568 or Jen Biggs at 425-6841. If there is a change in your student’s dismissal plans for the ARCADE program please make them in writing to Jen Biggs, Site Coordinator.

 
Common Core Learning Standards: We have transitioned to the use of the Common Core Learning Standards in English Language Arts and Math. For more information please explore the parent resources page on EngageNY:            
Parley Coburn Paw Passes: Parley Coburn continues to reward students who exhibit the behaviors of Be Safe, Practice Ownership, Celebrate Acceptance and Be Respectful by giving them positive feedback along with a Paw Pass. School-wide guidelines are established for the number of Paw Passes needed to earn specific incentives.
The incentives are: 
·10 paw passes the student receives a bookmark
·25 paw passes the student receives a certificate and a pencil
·50 paw passes the student will have their picture taken and their name announced in the announcements and receive a button
·75 paw passes the student receives a lanyard
·100 paw passes the student can invite a friend or family member to lunch

School Wide Expectations: We are transitioning to the school district school wide expectations and will refer to them as SOAR expectations. They are listed below.
