GRADING POLICIES
:
-A separate “Classwork/Homework Grade” will be earned based on the percentage of assignments completed and submitted on time. Work submitted late = 10% deducted per day.
-An assignment will be due nearly every day, with two days’ advance notice provided in most cases.
-Students in school, but not in class, are still responsible for any work assigned or due. See me.
-Extra credit may be earned through independent reading and/or writing. See me.
-Homework & Quizzes are counted x 1; Essays & Vocab. Tests counted x 2; Lit. Tests counted x 3

REGENTS EXAM
: Students will take the Regents Comprehensive Examination in English in January.
 
-Part 1: -Listen to & take notes on one Informational Passage, then Answer 8 Multiple Choice questions
           
-Part 2: -Read one Informational Passage, then Answer 6 Multiple Choice questions
 
               -Read one Literary Passage, then Answer 6 Multiple Choice questions
 
-Part 3: -Read two Literary Passages, linked by a Common Theme, then Answer 5 Multiple Choice questions

  • Write one short constructed response establishing a Controlling Idea about the provided Common Theme as it is revealed in both Passages
  • Write one short constructed response discussing how one of the authors uses one Literary Element or Technique
 
-Part 4: -Write one Essay applying an interpretation of a Critical Lens Quote to any 2 works of Literature
