Financial Aid and Scholarship Information
Private Scholarships:


Your College’s Financial Aid Office:

  • On your colleges web page, click on the financial aid link to find out more about the specific opportunities offered to all incoming freshmen.  You may need to fill out additional applications.
  • Many colleges will use your initial student application to decide if you meet the requirements for scholarships.  However, many scholarship opportunities may require an additional application, so be mindful when reading your college’s website to ensure that you fill out all additional applications if applicable.
  • Colleges begin to award students financial aid packages as soon as they start to receive applications.  College applications should be submitted by mid to late November.  Federal and State financial aid paperwork should be completed starting in January.

Government Aid:
 
  • During the fall of your senior year, visit HESC.ny.gov to familiarize yourself with the different types of federal and state financial aid that you can apply for.
  • During October, attend financial aid nights at the Waverly high school. 
  • September: Apply for your FSA ID# at https://fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm .  Each student and their parent will need a separate FSA ID.
  • October 1st and after: Visit https://fafsa.ed.gov to file your Free Application for Federal Student Aid.  After you’ve filled out your FAFSA, you will be given the link to fill out the NYS Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) forms.
