The “Grow the Future” Scholarship offers an award of $150 to a graduating senior who is pursuing further study in a career in one of the following fields of academic study: Environmental Studies, Culinary Arts, Sustainable Agriculture, Horticulture, &/or a related field. 

Candidates should have a minimum of 5 hours of volunteer experience with Project GROW or a related community organization, &/or have completed a project approved by Project GROW (or a related community organization) leading up to application.  Candidates must be community-minded, exhibit qualities of integrity and leadership, have a respect for and love of nature, and demonstrate a good work ethic.  Financial need may also be considered in the award of this scholarship.  The student must have guidance counselor approval before applying for this scholarship.

Due April 2nd:

Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers Guthrie Federal Credit Union Scholarship

This is a newly established scholarship by Guthrie Federal Credit Union. Guthrie Federal Credit Union is deeply committed to supporting the education goals of graduating seniors. This scholarship is open to graduating seniors from Waverly Central High School, Tioga Central High School, New York or from any Bradford County, Pennsylvania high school, as well as parochial schools and home schooled students within these school districts. Applicants should have a strong work ethic and an understanding of community service through volunteerism.

Due April 14th

Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers has 5 scholarships available specific to Waverly High School Students.  Applications can be found at their website http://www.twintierscf.org/.  These 5 scholarships should be turned in to student’s School Counselors.

Please note that this due date may be extended.  The Community Foundation of the Twin Tiers is working closely with our Counseling Office to determine due dates base on when Waverly Central School District will be back in session. 

1.)Alice Walker Cooper Family Scholarship  

This annual scholarship was established from the Estate of Albert M. Anderegg for students graduating from Waverly High School pursuing a post-secondary degree from an accredited institution of higher learning. This is based on merit and not financial need and there is a preference for students pursuing a field in agriculture.

2.)Carl & Charlotte Lovejoy Scholarship 

This newly established scholarship by Charlotte Lovejoy through her estate. She was a former volunteer at Guthrie Healthcare and for many years she and her husband Carl delivered for the Meals on Wheels program.  Applicants will be a graduating senior from Waverly School District. The preference is for automotive related studies, good academic performance and financial need.

3.)Donald & Linda Jayne Wrestling Scholarship 

This annual scholarship is for a Waverly senior who has participated in the wrestling program or been a manager for the program. The applicant must have at least an 80 grade point average. Preference is for someone who has held a job or done community service work while in high school and demonstrates financial need.

4.)Elizabeth Alamo Nursing Scholarship  

This scholarship of $500 is for a Waverly High School graduate pursuing a degree in the field of nursing. The student must demonstrate financial need and have earned at least an 80 point average while in high school.

5.)Katherine P. Kerrigan Scholarship 

This scholarship was established by Thomas W. Ward and Leslie Kipp, God-daughter of Katherine from the estate of Katherine P. Kerrigan. Katherine was a graduate of Barnard College. She traveled all over Europe as a tutor for a wealthy American family, the Plankingtons, in the 1920s. She taught at a number of schools and veterans’ associations, both to children and adults, on a whole range of subjects. She returned to Waverly when her father became ill. She was involved in community affairs and had great interest in public education and its improvement. The Katherine P. Kerrigan Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to graduates of Waverly High School exhibiting financial need and who have been accepted at an accredited two or four year college or trade school. The students must have strived to the best of their ability in their academic pursuits.

TC3 Service Tradition Scholarship

I am very pleased to let you know that Tioga State Bank is sponsoring a scholarship for students attending Tompkins Cortland Community College, please find an application attached.

 

Please make note - in addition to students needing to complete information about why they are deserving of the scholarship, a high school guidance counselor will need to verify information on behalf of the student.  The deadline for applications is April 15, 2020.

The Sayre Chapter of UNICO sponsors a combined 4-year scholarship consisting of the Michael & Ann DeSisti UNICO scholarship and the UNICO Foundation Scholarship.
Due April 21, 2020:
Eligibility Requirements:
1.      Students must:
a.      Be a member of the senior class;
b.      Be eligible for graduation;
c.      Be able to show proof of acceptance at an accredited college or university;
d.      Enroll in the specified college/university in the summer or fall of the year graduated from high school;
e.      Major in Special Education or a related field and plan to enter into a career working with the mentally and/or physically challenged.
NOTE: A major in Special Education has priority over related fields in the selection process if candidates are considered equally qualified.
2.      Eligibility shall be based upon scholarship and financial need.
3.      Any member of the immediate family of a Unican shall not be eligible.
