Welcome BC Cate families to the 2012-2013 school year! 

I hope your summer has been filled with rest, relaxation and lots of family fun! We have been preparing and gearing up for another great year!

There are a lot of exciting new learning initiatives as well as many familair ones to share with you. We will continue with our Character Education program giving our students the opportunty to shine when making good choices. Each month a different character trait is recognized and celebrated in our town meetings and character cafe.

Last year as a school we fully implemented our reading program Reading Street  which is  aligned to New York State's newly adopted Common Core Learning Standards. To learn more about New York State's Common Core Learining Standards click here.
 
This year we have adopted a new math series, Math in Focus a Singapore Approach to learning mathematics. The teachers have received training this summer and are looking forward to sharing this new approach to mathematics with our parents and students. 

Parents, there are many opportunities to get involved in our school community. Please consider volunteering in your child's classroom, joining the PFO or participate in one our many family activities here at school. 

You are an important member of your child's educational team. I look forward to our work together with you, your child and your child's teacher(s).
