PlantZilla GarDen was named by the Class of 2019 when they were in 2nd grade. They were inspired by a book by the same title.
In the spring, many classes go out and plant vegetables in our raised beds and along our fences. When time permits, classes also go out to weed and harvest.
During the school year, our harvest goes to the cafeteria for our students to enjoy. During the summer, families are welcome to come and bring what they like back to their table. The cost??? If you take a little... weed a little -- that's all we ask.
We want our students to enjoy!
Any extra harvest is brought to the Hope 7 Food Pantry.

- Help classrooms with planting in April and May
- Help weed and harvest during the summer
- Bring extra harvest to Hope 7 Food Pantry
- Help to maintain beds -- we need adults who are good with building raised beds too!

Chairperson Responsibilities:

- Provide updates to Wynantskill eNews
- Make a plan for planting
- Have teachers sign up for planting specific beds/plants
- Coordinate timing of planting with teachers
- Coordinate weeding, harvesting, and donation of food
- Address any maintenance needs that the garden has
- look for and apply for grants that may enhance the garden
