Description: Today's Blah-g

Today we took a practice spelling test so that the students will be ready for tomorrow's actual test.  Remember, this week the students are working on words that rhyme with bike, car, van and train.  Following that we worked on reading and answering questions from a pictorgraph.  The students had  a pictograph about favorite cookies.  They needed to collect the data plus read and answer questions.  Today's lesson was designed so that the students would know what to do on tonight's homework.  After math we we learned new vocabulary words for our upcoming story in reading group called Lost and Found.  The words we discussed were; worried, rumpled, situations, directions, visible and unusual.  The students also did quick illustrations on each word to help them solidify the definitions of the words.  Following that we worked on capitalization in language arts and reviewed that capital letters are needed at the beginning of sentences, names of days, names of people and when "i" is by itself.  Lunch, recess and music class followed that.  At the end of the day we had social studies.  The students worked on labelling a world map with the four oceans and the seven continents.  It was a busy day!!
