In my humble opinion, I feel the biggest issue we face in the United States today is the ability to have a civilized discussion about our problems as a nation. Those problems include social, economic, and political concerns at the local, state, national, and international level. We have learned to shout over one another rather than to listen first, understand each others concerns, and then to seek common ground in an attempt to solve those issues. This is my number one goal in our class this semester, to have civilized discussions and debates about our shared issues as United States citizens.
