I have been reading Cinder and what has happened so far is that cinder is a cyborg and a mechanic.Cinder's stepmom does not even care about her.Cinder is amuned to the cold ,virius,and other things that we get sick to but she does not but there is a plague going on and her sister has it but she is aumned to it she can help safe millions of lifes.The king  just died because of this plague and because she is amned to it they are paying her to come back and be tested on  while also being paid.The back account the step mom does not have access to.
