8/9 Schedule Change: Waverly at home on Friday September 6th is changed to a home game on Thursday September 5th.  Also, practices during the second week of preseason may be switched to acclimate better to the afternoon heat that we will be playing in.  I will be sending out an email or letter this weekend to address final information before preseason begins.

8/5 Code of Conduct Forms and Permission Slips are due to my mailbox ASAP.  I will hand them in to the office by Friday 8/9.

7/30 All forms should be placed in my mail box in the high school by 8/6.  I will hand them in to Mrs. Russell and Mr. Augustine.  Forms should not be handed in to Mrs. Walsh.

7/29 You should have received some information in an email today.  Please let me know if you did not get it.  I included the following in that email:
Here are some ways to improve your playing time this season
1. Good physical fitness (speed, endurance, strength, agility, flexibility)
2. Solid basic soccer skills (practice, practice, practice)
3. Be able to play and perform skills at game speed (push yourself to go faster and keep control)
4. Be able to make quick/appropriate decisions during game play (built through game play)
5. Have a good work ethic (focused, no short cuts, the desire to work hard comes from within you)

Here are ways that your playing time may decrease
1. Lack of physical fitness (not fit enough to complete drills or practice)
2. Being injured (many times due to lack of fitness ie. strains, muscle pulls)
3. Missing practice (hard to improve when you're not at practice)
4. Basic skills are incomplete or can only be performed slowly (practice, practice, practice)
5. Lack of effort (not willing to work as hard as you can during drills and games)
6. Poor decision making during game play (not understanding tactics, kicking the ball without a purpose)

7/24 We need more people to be attending Tuesday and Thursday night pickup soccer.  I see mostly alumni up at the field.

7/20 Don't get any new piercings.  I know there is a time period when new piercings should not be removed.  However, you will not be allowed to practice or play in games with any jewelry on.  Taping over jewelry is not allowed unless it is a medical id.

7/16 Only 5 weeks until preseason to begins.  You should be one week into your off season training.  Building endurance, flexibility and strength.  Looks like it's going to be another hot day.  Make sure you bring water to pick up soccer to night if you go.

7/15 If you need a physical make an appointment with your own MD or with Mrs. Russell by July 23rd.  The school MD will be giving school physicals on 8/7.

7/11 I just received the first change to our game schedule.  The game @ Candor on 10/4 has now been rescheduled to @ Candor on Saturday 10/5 a.m. start.

7/8 Hopefully you have all received your packet of information.  Please get started on your off season training.  Make sure you have an updated physical on file at Newfield.  Permission forms need to be handed in prior to the first day of practice.  These forms can be handed in any time between July 22nd - August 14th.  I will attempt to make the Tuesday night pickup games but as stated above these are organized by the players.
