School Attendance



It is the responsibility of the parent (guardian) and the student to be on time and attend all classes. In order for students to maximize their learning/school experience, they need to attend school each day.

 Definitions

 Excused: Any absence, tardiness, or early departure for which the student has a valid school-approved excuse. These include:

                        1.      Personal illness

2.      Illness or death in the family

3.      Impassable roads or weather making travel unsafe

4.      Religious observance

5.      Medical appointment

6.      Approved school-sponsored trips

7.      Quarantine

8.      Required court appearances

 Unexcused: Any absence, tardiness, or early departure for which the student has not valid school-approved excuse. These include, but not limited to:

1.      Oversleeping

2.      Truancy

3.      Shopping

4.      Hunting/fishing

5.      Babysitting

Tardy: The student arrives later than the school’s start time.

 Early departure: The student leaves prior to the end of the school day.

 Truancy: Truancy is the willful unexcused absence by a student from school.

 

A written excuse needs to be provided for every absence when your child returns to school.
