Labs

Completed Labs To Date:   As of February 9th, we have completed 27 Labs

30 passing labs are due by May 29, 2009 (10 will be required state labs) or admission to the Regents exam will be denied.

Note:  30 Passing labs are required in order to pass the laboratory portion of this class

Labs will be done routinely.  All labs will be due at the end of the period unless another due date is given.  All labs are graded, and to meet state requirements, need a 65% or higher to pass.  If the lab is not passing, it needs to be made up and returned to me within that 6-week marking period.  Comments on laboratory completion will be on all grade reports.  I am required to have 30 passing laboratory assignments on file for every student before the regent’s exam is taken.  For this reason, at least 15 labs need to be filed with me by midterm or admission to the midterm exam will be denied.  An incomplete will be on the report card until the midterm exam is completed.  The students will have one week to produce the required completed and graded labs and take the alternate midterm.  If these deadlines are not met the incomplete becomes a “0.”  (Parents:  Please monitor your student’s laboratory completion count.  We do approximately 25-28 labs by midterm.)

Laboratory safety is of the utmost importance.  All students that do not follow safety guidelines (after one warning) will not be allowed to participate in the laboratory for that day and will receive a “0” for the day.

I will accept laboratory assignments completed anytime within a 6-week marking period for a passing completion check only.  This is not recorded in the grade book.  It is only counting for the 30 passing laboratory count.
