Extra Credit!

How do I earn extra points on my art grade?

It's simple. Just complete one of these online extra assignments.  These projects will help you to build upon the skills you have are learning in class. Meet all criteria and show your skills to earn extra points!  Have fun! Be creative! Make a mess - but this time at home!

*See Mr. Bell first to obtain drawing paper. Don't draw these on a used napkin, your shoe, or your neighbors cat. This is an EXTRA PROJECT - I need to see your best work and effort for you to get credit. Extra credit only available to students who have completed all classroom projects.

1. Create a 3-Dimensional self-portrait
You will learn in class about the guidelines used to create correct proportion in a self-portrait.  Use this information to make a 3D self-portrait using materials such as paper, modeling clay, cloth, plastic or just about anything you can find in your home. Make it look like you, then bring it in to show me to get an extra 100 averaged into your art grade.

2. Draw a dragon using dynamic detail, texture and shading
Use your artistic skills to create a detailed original drawing of a dragon.  It will need shadows, highlights and a background design to make it look realistic. Make sure to show the scales, horns, teeth, wings and anything else you can to make your best rendition of this creature. ONLY ORIGINAL WORK ACCEPTED - no copies created from other artwork. Finished in color will get you an extra 100 averaged into your art grade!

3. Floral Still life
Drawing from life can be complicated.  For this project, you will need to set up a visual reference of flowers or plants to draw. Focus on the details, subtle color changes and soft texture of the flowers. Show a range of colors to make it look realistic.  Finished in color will earn you an extra 100 averaged into your overall grade!

4. Zombie Attack
Okay, so you want something that's a little crazy? I want you to create one drawing that has at least 10 zombies in it. They can be doing anything: flying a kite, chasing a kitten, riding in a schoolbus or hopping on a pogostick - it's up to you. Nothing too gross or at all inappropriate will be accepted!  I need to see overlapping and action in the drawing.
Full color work meeting all of these specifications will earn you an extra 100 averaged into your grade!

5. Cartoon Strip
Create an original cartoon strip. You must have an illustrated title, a story, 2 original characters, dialogue, and be in color. The cartoon needs to have smooth lines and clear colors.  Finished work will earn you an extra 100 averaged into your grade
