Classroom Rules and Procedures

Classroom Rules

During the first week of school I had several class meetings to discuss and develop our classroom rules. Our class came to the consensus on the following rules:

  • Listen carefully
  • Follow directions
  • Work quietly
  • Respect others
  • Respect school property
As a class, we also developed consequences for rules that are not followed. It was agreed that if a student does not follow a rule then they will be put on yellow one (I have a chart in my room). This means that they will lose 5 minutes of recess time. If the behavior continues, then that student will be put on yellow 2, which means they lose 10 minutes of recess time. If the behavior still continues, then that student will be put on red. Red indicates a complete loss of recess time, a phone call home, and a meeting with the principal.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding our classroom rules and/or consequences, please do not hesitate to contact me! You can email me through this site, write a note, or call!

Procedures

Snack- Each day we will have snack time,   this will happen in the morning as our lunch is not until 11:45. Students are to bring in a healthy snack, such as fruit, crackers, or pretzels. Please do not allow your son/daughter to bring in candy for snack.

Water bottles are welcomed in our classroom. Students may keep them at their desk and drink from them throughout the day.  Please do not send in soda or juice.

Green Folders- Each student will be given a green folder that is to travel back and forth with them each day. Please check this folder nightly as homework, completed class work, and other important papers will be in there.

Books-The Reading book needs to be covered by the end of the first week of school. The book is relatively new and we would like to keep them in good shape.

Spelling tests are given every Friday. The challenge words are on each test. At this point the challenge words are bonus words, however as we progress the challenge words become part of the weekly spelling list.

Birthday parties are welcome! We will typically have them in the afternoon.

Show and Share- We will have show and share each Friday for everyone
