Reading
At Newfield Elementary we use the Houghton Mifflin Reading Series. We are continuously working on alphabet letters and sound relationships. We also focus on short vowel sounds. Books are read aloud each day and the students learn to read basic readers by themselves. These books then go home to be put into their Book Boxes. The students should be practicing reading each night.

Check out this website for learning to read activities:

Math
Using the Scott Foresman Mathmatics series we review numbers, more then and less then, graphing and patterns. Then we move into basic addition and subtraction, geometry, probabilty, fractions, money, counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s. You can help your child at home by practicing their skip counting or letting them add groups of objects together.
Math is everywhere!
