The ABC's of Kindergarten

A

Absences: If your child is going to be absent, please remember to call Mrs. Cassie Barrett (607.527.9800) to inform them of your child's absence and the reason.  If your child needs to leave for an appointment during the day, please send a note in with them and I will send it down to the main office.

Arrival: Students may enter classrooms at 7:40 each morning.  Breakfast will be served daily starting at 8:05.

Art: We have art on D days with Mrs. Fishbaugh.

B

Backpacks: During the weekend, please set a specific time aside with your Kindergartner to examine the contents of his/her backpack.

Birthdays:  Birthdays are a special time for each child! Birthday treats are welcome, however, please remember they have to be store bought.  Birthdays will typically be celebrated as the child's snack day for the month. Please send all birthday invitations through the mail, unless your child is inviting the entire class to avoid hurt feelings.

Book Baggies: Every Friday your child will bring home one book in a zip-lock baggie. This is a book that might be too hard for them to read on their own. Please take the time over the weekend to read the book to your child. Remember that we will be learning a lot of the words in these books (sight words), so encourage your child to point out the words he/she knows; talk about what is going on in the pictures; and talk about the story after you have read it. Then, color in the appropriate amount of time you spent reading to and with your child to earn a free meal at Applebees!

Book Orders: Book orders will be sent home monthly.  This is a great way to build your Kindergartner's home library. Book orders can also be made online using the Scholastic website. Follow the directions to create your own username and password, then complete your order!
This option allows you to pay Scholastic directly and our classroom receives a free book for every online order!
Directions will be stapled to the top of each book order.
