Dear Families,

          Welcome to fourth grade!  My name is Mrs. Bostwick, and I will be your child's teacher.  I'm very excited to be returning to Gardner Road Elementary.  Previous to teaching 2nd grade for two years at Big Flats Elementary, I taught 4th and then 2nd grade, both for three years at Gardner Road Elementary.
           I would like to take this opportunity to further introduce myself.  I’m dedicated to education and love fostering student learning.  At home, my husband and I have two boys, Julian and Nolan.   In my spare time I enjoy reading, running, attending our boy's sporting events, and traveling.  We also have two dogs, Bella and Marley who always want to play!
           Fourth grade is a wonderful year that will be filled with many adventures in learning.  I am confident that you will all enjoy coming to school and partaking in our classroom activities.  I really look forward to getting to know all of my students and their families.  I realize that teaching your child is a tremendous responsibility, and I will do my best to ensure that each student is provided a safe and motivating learning experience in this upcoming school year.  In my classroom I take a hands-on approach to learning.  Students work in teams and collaborate to solve problems, learn to persuade, and discuss learning material to gain a deeper understanding of what is being taught. 
           The parent-teacher relationships are vital for maximum school success.  I truly look forward to hearing input from you on anything you would like to share with me about your child to ensure they receive all of the support and appropriate challenge, that will help them reach their fullest potential as a second grader. Throughout the year I will communicate with parents through newsletters, notes, telephone calls, emails, report cards, our classroom website and parent-teacher conferences.
