Ninth Grade Honors Program Terms and Conditions
Philosophy
The Spencer – Van Etten High School 9-12 Honors Program is sequentially designed demanding academic excellence and achievement. The rigorous, challenging and enriching curriculum requires students to transcend the scope of traditional expectations in an environment conducive to creative and intellectual pursuits.
Student Eligibility
The Honors Program is open to students who have successfully completed prerequisite outcomes and who understand that they must meet the requirements and expectations of a more challenging course. Students and their parents must sign a letter of intent accepting the terms and conditions of their continued participation in the honors course and program.

Honors Program students are required each year to:
- Achieve a B or better average on all prerequisites
- Demonstrate exemplary attendance (not to exceed ten absences per semester)
- Complete assignments
- Refrain from plagiarism (note: no warning with this requirement; failing grade for work)
- Maintain a B or better average
- Self-manage behavior contributing to class in a positive way
