MUSCLE OF THE MONTH
Every new month of the school year, our students will learn a major muscle of the body. In October we will learn about the importance of having and keeping a healthy HEART. In November we will learn about the HAMSTRINGS and how they can help us swim. In December we will be learing about the GASTROCNEMIUS (Calf Muscle), the muscle that helps us jump. In January we will be learning about the GLUTEUS MAXIMUS (our bottom). In February we will be learing about the QUADRICEPS (the thigh muscles) the muscles that peddle our bicycles. In March we will be learning about the ABDOMINAL muscles, the muscles that help us stand up tall and breath. In April we will be learning about the Deltoid muscles in our shoulders and how they help us throw a ball. In May we will be learing about the BICEPS muscle on the top side of our arms that help us give bear hugs. In June we will be learning about the TRICEPS muscle on the underside of our arms and what they do during a push-up. At the end of the month, students receive a coloring sheet about each muscle, and what they can do to take care of it. At the end of the school year students will have learned about 9 different muscles.
Get Up....Get Out....Get Active!
