College Bound Athletes (NCAA)

National Collegiate Athletic Association

There are strict rules and guidelines about playing sports in college and the first step for parents and students is to log-in to the NCAA Eligibility Center online at http://www.ncaa.org/.  View the NCAA Guide for the College Bound Student Athlete Download NCAA 20-21 Student Athlete Guide.pdf as well as DI reqirements and DII requirements http://www.ncaa.org/student-athletes/play-division-i-sports

The second step is to plan course selections for your four years in high school that meet the academic guidlines set forth by NCAA.  School Counselors review NCAA guidelines during yearly course selection with students.

Timeline for NCAA:

  • If you think you may be intersted in playing sports in college, schedule an appointment with your School Counselor as soon as possible to review the rules/regulations of NCAA.
  • Starting in ninth grade, students and parents should be extremely intentional about course selection.
  • In eleventh grade, if students are interested in playing college sports at a Division I or II level, students should create a student account at http://www.ncaa.org/

Please see your School Counselor for more information.
