My Credentials

I have twenty-one years of experience teaching elementary school. I have taught kindergarten, first, fourth, and fifth grades. I am currently teaching fourth and fifth grade as part of a cross-grade level team.

I have a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a master's degree in Reading, both from SUNY Cortland. I am certified through the New York State Education Department to teach all subjects in grades Pre-K-6, reading in grades K-12, and social studies in grades 7-12.

Additionally,  I have participated in several American History workshops: I have taken 3 at Binghamton University, 1 at the Constitution Center in Philadelphia, and most recently, 1 at Montpelier, Virginia, the estate of James Madison.

During my time teaching in the Newfield Central School District, I have spearheaded the following programs:

1998- Along with other dedicated staff members, I started the Fine Arts Booster Club, a group of volunteers who support the music, theater, and arts programs at NCS.

2003- I created the Middle School Drama Club and directed its first nine shows.

2009-I led the Elementary School's participation in the Go Green Initiative, bringing advanced recycling and composting to the District.
