There are three main non-academic areas that will be the focus of attention in our classroom this year:
Listening: Over the years, I have found that students' abilities to focus, listen, and follow directions has greatly declined; therefore, developing good listening habits will be an important, ongoing skill this year.
Responsibility: I am a firm believer in responsibility and will hold the students accountable for their actions.
Treating Others with Respect: Again, I have noticed over the years that children (and adults) have become quite harsh with their words and treatment of others. We will follow the Golden Rule in our classroom: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. We will specifically work on how to be a good friend, work through conflicts, and resist bullying.
