Dolch Sight Words
Below you will find flash cards and websites to help your child practice various sight words. Sight Words (sometimes called the Dolch Word List) are some of the most frequently used words in the English language. Even though they number only about 200, Sight Words comprise approximately 50 to 70 percent of any given general, non-technical text. Therefore, teaching Sight Words as early as possible is considered a crucial part of elementary education. The Dolch word list is made up of "service words" (pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and verbs) which cannot be learned through the use of pictures. There are grades attached to each list, but remember each student progresses at their own pace. If you are not sure which list your child is working from let me know and I can let you know.
