The following information is provided to students and parents to help them become familiar with the course content and the expectations for students.

Teacher’s job:
·        My course objectives are to help students use the skills of the 7th and 8th grade curriculums to increase their application and problem solving skills with the new material.
·        I will help them be able to justify their mathematical position and help them gain confidence in their math ability.
·        I will use several different teaching strategies such as guided notes, cooperative learning activities, games, and discussions.
·        I will be available every day during 6th and 7th periods and sometimes 2nd, 4th, and 10th. I can help after school if set up ahead of time.
·        I will check their homework everyday by using the following guidelines:

o   Notes/Classwork go behind the folder in the 3 rings
·        Report to class before going to a band lesson or on a field trip
o   Hand in the homework that is due
o   Pick up the notes and homework for that day
·        At the end of each unit after the notebook and red folder check, put the unit in a folder to be stored in the room for review before the state test(April 2013) and the regents(June 2013)
·        Retest when something went wrong
o   All homework is done
o   Corrections/Explanations on the first quiz/test are done and evaluated by the teacher
