Meet Your Teachers
Ms. Leanne Mangabang
Ms. Mangabang was born in Liberty and graduated from Liberty Central School.  She earned her Bachelor's Degree from SUNY New Paltz and Master's Degree from NYIT. 
 
She currently lives in Monticello, NY with her two daughters Ashley, who also has a teaching degree, and Krista, who is attending college. 
 
She has been teaching at Liberty since 2001 but she worked in the Central Administration Building for the district for several years prior to that.  She and Mr. Philips have been team teaching in 3rd and 4th grade since the fall of 2003. 

 
Mr. David Philips
Mr. Philips was born and raised in a small town named Hadley, NY not too far from Lake George.  He graduated from
Hadley-Luzerne Central School which is a school even smaller than Liberty!  After four years at the State University of New York at Geneseo, he graduated with a degree to teach Elementary and Social Studies (K-12).  Mr. Philips completed his Master's Degree at the same college.

Mr. Philips' first teaching job was in 1995 where he taught 2nd grade.  It was the same school that his father taught in!  Since, he has also taught 1st, 3rd and 4th grade in both inclusion and multiage classrooms at times.  Mr. Philips has been at Liberty since 1998.
 
Mr. Philips' wife also teaches at Liberty Elementary.  They have four children in live in Liberty.
 
 

Mrs. Maureen Stabak
Mrs. Stabak and her husband live in Liberty, NY.  Mrs. Stabak was born and raised in Pawtucket, Rhode Island (and Rhode Island is not an Island :-) !).  She graduated with a degree in Specoial Education from the University of Wisconsin/Whitewater.  She earned her Master's at the College of New Rochelle.  She has been teaching in Liberty since 1998.

 

Mrs. Katie Chakar
Mrs. Chakar grew up in Lebanon and came to the United States with her family when she was 12.  She graduated from Drury SEnior High School in North Adams, Massachusetts.  She has been working in Liberty since the fall of 2001 and has worked with Mrs. Stabak every year.  Mrs. Chakar's husband is currently the Superintendant of Andes Central School District in Delaware County.  The Chakar's live with their daughter Christina in White Lake.
