6th Grade Math: Alfred-Almond Central School
Welcome to 6th Grade Math!!! As we start a new year and get ready to strengthen our mathematical abilities, I want to share with you a few hints on how to make this year enjoyable and beneficial to your learning.
Ms. Baker’s Class
+ BE PREPARED!! A carpenter cannot build without a hammer, and you cannot learn without having the materials you need. Please be prepared for class everyday by having what you need, this includes: your math notebook, your text book, a pencil (sharpened), a different color writing utensil to correct your work with, and your homework.
- Math Notebooks Always bring your math notebook to class. This is your new best friend. Treat it well; date each lesson, use it for a reference, get advice from it (as to how to work through a problem) and NEVER LOSE IT!
- Expectations: Our classroom expectations this year will be created collaboratively between the classroom teacher(s) and you as a student. You have expectations as to how you would like to have your learning environment run, as do I as your teacher. Together we will agree upon a reasonable and beneficial set of expectations. Once created, we will sign the posted expectations; this is saying you understand and will follow the expectations of the classroom without having to be reminded on how to behave as a student or a learner.
Classroom Expectations (to be filled in):
1.   BE Happy
2.   BE A Good Listener
3.   Treat Others The Way You Would Like To Be Treated
4.   Be Responsible
5.   Be Respectful
6.   Watch Your Language
7.   Don't Touch Things That Don't Belong To You
8.    Participate/Pay Attention/Take Good Notes
9.   Make Good Choices
-Bathroom Time. Please try to use the bathroom prior to class time or at a time that I am not teaching. I understand that there are emergencies, in those cases, please sign-out quickly and quietly. * Note: Emergencies should not happen every day.
YOU!
- Be Proud Of Your Abilities! Don’t be afraid to struggle with and discover challenging ideas and problems. Know that it is okay to be confused; confusion leads to learning. I want you to try first, use the knowledge you already have, and then seek assistance.Let’s Have A Great Year! J
