Meet The Teacher

Welcome To My World!

My name is Kate Baker and I am originally from Belmont, NY. I have been a 6th grade teacher at Alfred-Almond since February 2008. I am very thankful to teach 6th grade mathematics, as I believe that Math is a subject that can be taught in so many creative and enthusiastic ways. Through diversified lessons, I hope to reach all types of learners in my room, as well as make their mathematical experience enjoyable and beneficial throughout the year.

I am finishing my masters program at Alfred University this fall and am also the girls modified soccer coach for Alfred-Almond.(Soccer/A-A Sports Schedule) I have a daughter (Zoe) who will be in the 3rd grade, the students will probably see her and hear about her a lot this year as family is a very important and critical part of my life. I recently bought a home in Almond and enjoy spending time outside, soccer, football (The Bills), reading, cooking, coffee, and being able to have a job that I love to come to everyday, and experience the young and developing minds of fabulous kids!

I welcome and encourage contact with all of my students' parents/guardians. I believe it is a team effort when it comes to the education of a child, there are many crucial players on this team and it will not succeed if we are not on the same page. I also look to the opinions of my students as they are the ones who know how they learn best. Everyone’s opinion is critical, but I encourage respect as we develop an educational environment that is best for all of my students.

Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to a great 2011-2012 school year!
