Grading Policy

A GRADE is considered to be a measurement of the student's knowledge of the subject matter. Grades will be determined by the "point system" described below. The overall grade will include results from homework assignments, tests, quizzes, classroom participation and accumulated review assignments.

All homework, quizzes, tests and projects will be given a point value depending on the degree of difficulty of the material, the length of the assignment and the amount of time given for completion. Point values will vary. The student's work grade is calculated by dividing the earned points by the total points possible.

Example:

Hmwk: student earns 8 points of a total of 10 points possible

Hmwk: student earns 10 points of a total of 10 points possible

Hmwk: student earns 17 points of a total of 20 points possible.

The total points earned are 35 points of a total of 40 points possible and the student's homework grade is
 35 ÷ 40 = 87.5%.

The student's overall grade, however, will be calculated using the following percentages:

Homework-20%, Classroom/Participation 5%, Tests-50%, Quizzes-15%, Projects and Accumulated Review -10%.
