Class Descriptions
Class Expectations
Students will need a notebook and a two pocket folder for class.  This will be provided for them. Students are expected to be on time as this is part of their participation grade.  Excessive tardiness will have a reflection in their grade. Students are expected to participate to the best of their ability. 
 
Class Descriptions
Most class periods consist of direct instruction, group work, and individual practice.  Students will participate in many hands on activities and have access to different types of media as they are exposed to new material.
 
15:1 Math 8 –
We will be covering the New York State 8th grade curriculum in preparation for the New York State Math Exam at the end of the year. The main topics covered in this course are: Rational Numbers, Graphs and Functions, Exponents and Roots, Ratios, Proportions, Geometric Relationships, Measurement and Geometry, Multi-Step Equations, Graphing Lines, Data, Prediction, and Linear Functions.
 
15:1 Science 8 - 
Students will be prepared to take the New York State 8th grade science exam at the end of the year.  This exam has a written piece as well as a lab exam.  Students will be exposed to safe lab practices before beginning any labs. Students will be taught the procedures that will prepare them not just for the exam but classes later on as well.  The curriculum covered this year is based on Matter, Interactions of Matter, Atoms, Work, Machines, Energy, Electricity and Magnetism, Waves, Sound, Light.
8:1:1 Math 7/8
This class is a combination of both 7th and 8th grade students.  We will cover the 7th and 8th grade curriculums to accommodate and prepare both groups of students for the New York State Exam at the end of the year. The 8th grade curriculum covers the following: Rational Numbers, Graphs and Functions, Exponents and Roots, Ratios, Proportions, Geometric Relationships, Measurement and Geometry, Multi-Step Equations, Graphing Lines, Data, Prediction, and Linear Functions.
The 7th grade curriculum covers the following: Algebraic Reasoning, Integers and Rational Numbers, Applying Rational Numbers, Proportional Relationships, Graphs, Percents, Geometric Figures, Measurement and Geometry, Probability, and Multistep Equations.
There is a lot of overlap between the two curriculums and both will be covered throughout the course of the year. 
 
8:1:1 Science 7/8 –
