Each marking period students has the opportunity to earn 1,000 points. The points are broken down as follows –

400 points per marking period for participation.  This includes being on time, having the required materials, and handing in daily classwork assignments. Students will earn between 10 and 15 points per day depending on the in class assignment.
This is the largest portion of each student’s grade.  Being here, prepared, participating, and on time is the most vital piece to a student being successful.

300 points per marking period for tests and quizzes. Tests can be worth up to 50 points each, and quizzes can be worth between 10 and 25 points each.  I do not give pop quizzes. Students will always know ahead of time when a test or quiz is approaching and will be provided with adequate review.

200 points per marking period for homework. Each homework will be worth between 10 and 20 points. Students will not receive homework each night.  Expect homework 2-3 nights a week on average per subject.
If a student is absent they will have 5 days after that absence to turn in any missed classwork or homework with no penalty.

100 points for projects/ large group activities – we will have one project per marking period that will make up this 100 points piece of each students grade.  This could be an individual project, or a group related project.  Most of the work will be done in class; however it may require some time outside of school.
