Professional Responsibility

Professional Development is crucial to educators.  It ensures that we continue to be competent in our professions, and that our students benefit from having effective, informed and inspired teachers. I welcome enriching Professional Development experiences.  I feel that development and inspiration is gained not only through the topic, method or techniques that are being taught, but the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues.  When experienced and passionate educators are gathered together, learning, engaging and honing their skills, that is when inspiration occurs.  The concept of brainstorming is at its best; the energy is palpable, and new ideas and concepts are born.

In my position as Librarian, my role in Professional Development is unique and binary.  As a Teacher, I am required to participate in Professional Development opportunities, and I appreciate the knowledge that I gain.  As an Information Specialist, I am well-placed to facilitate staff training and act as a leader in technology and curriculum advancements.
