Colonial Williamsburg is a great educational place to visit on a family vacation and online too!  Learn all about Colonial America.  Explore the online museums, colonial history, and the multi-media links.  There are lots of interactive games and activities to do in the Kids Zone.  This is a great site for our 5th graders!

Kids.gov has a wide variety of links to government and kids' art sites.  Follow the navigation bar to take you to art and history sites appropriate for your grade level.  Explore, learn, and have fun!

Website categories include: interactive art history, art museums, make art online, make art at home, learn about other cultures, and fun activities to do.  You can also visit online student galleries to see children's art from across the country and world!   

http://ivyjoy.com/coloring/artlinks.html is a resource site with links to student art galleries and various art museums.  There are some websites available where kids can submit their art work to online student galleries.  Always get your parents' and teachers' permission first, before you post any art work!

Art History For Kids can be a fun and learning adventure to explore. You will be an art detective and travel to some of the major museums of the world, searching for famous works of art.

Tour Egypt is a kid friendly way to learn about and explore Ancient Egypt.  Check out the link for Activities and Games.  Lots of word games, but the art projects are limited to cut and color activities. 

Uncle Fred shows you how to draw some cartoon animals and other characters in an animated step by step process.

Dreezle  is a simple online program  where you can create your own artwork with the paint, draw, and stamp tools.                                      

Apples 4 the Teacher offers free creative arts and crafts and interactive educational games and online activities for kids.  There are hundreds of printable coloring pages with images on a variety of subjects and holidays.  The acitivities on this website are probably more suited to the younger elementary student.

Haringkids is a fun animated coloring book showcasing the whimsical art work of American Artist, Keith Haring. You can also print out Keith Haring coloring book pages.

Art Show for Kids is a current running online art gallery where students can upload and submit their own artwork based on the site's given "Art Show" themes.  Make sure to have your parents' permission to participate and their help to submit your art work.   Also, let your art teacher know if you do have art work published on this site.                                                                           

NGA Kids is a website from the National Gallery of Art.  Here you will find lots of fun interactive activities to help you explore some of the Museum's collections.  Just click on a highlighted link and let the learning begin!

CMA Kids is a website from the Cleveland Museum of Art.  There are lots of interactive art activities and games  based on their Ancient Egyptian collection, along with some other Ancient Cultures.  A great site for our 6th graders to explore.

Kidipede is a website with all kinds of information about Ancient Civilizations.  Just click a continent on the world map to go back in time to explore different cultures. There are excellent visuals of art and artifacts to learn about.  This site has many cross curricular connections to our 6th grade social studies units and even a bit on American History for our 5th graders.

MuseumKids is an excellent educational art website based on the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  There are virtual tours and activities to do that will help you explore and learn about  the Met's interesting art collections and exhibits.  This site is an enjoyable way to learn about famous artists such as Degas, Van Gogh, Cezanne and many others!  Mrs. Crans highly recommends exploring this website!  Six graders, see if you can find William, the Ancient Egyptian hippo!

Art Junction is a collaborative art space for teachers and students.  There are many good creative thinking activities and art projects for kids to do here.

Doodle4google is an annual contest for students grades K-12 to create a logo for the google web page.  Each year students across the nation create google logo drawings and related statements based on a given theme.  The Horseheads Intermediate School students have participated in this contest through their art classes.  Though none of our students have yet been finalists, we are hopeful for the future.  Check out this year's winning entries and find out more information about "doodle 4 google".
