Following the third semester of the Health Occupations program, students are eligible to take the New York State Nursing Home Nurse Aide Certification Test.  Students must have completed a total of 108 hours of theory and 108 hours of clinical.  GST BOCES Wildwood is a certified Regional Exam Site.

The test consists of two separate tests that evaluate the knowledge and skills required to provide safe and competent care.

Students are responsible for the test fee of $115, which covers both the written and skills tests ($135 oral).

The candidate has only 3 attempts to pass the Clinical Skills exam and only 3 attempts to pass the written or oral exam within two years of the training completion date.

The written exam consists of 60 multiple choice questions that evaluate the candidate's overall knowledge and skill in providing safe and competent care.

The clinical skills exam consists of three skills from the Clinical Skills List as well as the added skills of handwashing and indirect care.  To pass the clinical skills exam, the candidate must pass all 5 skills.

Students receive the NYS DOH Certification Program Manual which contains all the necessary information for testing.
