NOCTI is a leading provider of occupational competency assessments and services, dedicated to providing relevant quality products and services for the assessment of workforce competence.


In January of their senior year students take the NOCTI Nursing Assisting competency exam.  It is a two part exam consisting of a written assessment and a performance assessment. 

The knowledge-based exam (4058) has 198 test items. The test includes basic nursing assisting skills, infection control, communication skills, personal care skills, mental health and social service needs, client rights, basic restorative devices, and employability skills. (Administration time: 3 hours)

The performance assessment is made up of five jobs.  Students are evaluated on their performance of vital signs, barrier techniques, wheelchair use, occupied bedmaking, and modified bed bath. (Administration time: about 2 hours)
