Total Fitness PE course

Not offered this semester.

This is a new OMCS PE elective offered the first semester for this year.  Upon successful completion of this course Juniors and Seniors can earn .5 credits of PE.
Course Objectives:
- Students will learn about traditional and modern methodologies in strength and cardiovascular training.
- Students will participate in various workouts utilizing the newly modified weight room, following guided workouts such as 'T-25", "P90X3", "Asylum", Weight training, and pool workouts.  The class will focus on total body fitness, including nutrition.
- Students will demonstrate the ability to compare benefits and weaknesses of various fitness programs.
- Students will realize measureable improvement in various fitness components.

Grading:
75% Participation
25% Skills and Knowledge including Projects and personal reflections

Sequence: participating in Strength Training using weights

Total Fitness "Final Assignment" will be due on June 13, 2020
 

Total Fitness culminating Assignment:
·         Compare and contrast the three fitness programs used in the “Total Fitness” PE elective course. The report must include…
§ Training philosophy for each program
·         P90X
·         T25
·         Strength training using free weights
§ Two similarities and two differences for each
§ Evidence of which program was most effective for you.
§ Include in the report that you meet your goal or showed progress toward your goal and show evidence, or that you did not meet your goal and why.
§ Conclude the report with the value of the “Total Fitness” PE elective course with explanation or why it you do not view it as valuable, with explanation.
