Academic Intervention Services in English language Arts Grades 7 and 8
- The primary goal of AIS English in grades 7 and 8 are to prepare for the ELA 7 and ELA 8 NYS Assessments
- We will use a combination of real literature and past NYS Assessments to prepare for the assessments
- Literature that is used in AIS English includes, but is not limited to, The House on Mango Street, by Sandra Cisneros, Rules, by Cynthia Lord, and Coraline (graphic novel), by Neil Gaiman.
- AIS English also provides an opportunity to work on assignments from other classes that are writing intensive with support and coaching
- All assignments are completed in class, so there is no additional homework for AIS
- There is a "quarterly" report indicating student progress in AIS English that will be attached to the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th report cards
